Trademark and Brand Usage Policy

In short
The hockeytape.ca name and logo belong to Scott Plumptree. You may refer to the site by name truthfully, but you may not use the logo, or suggest a connection that does not exist, without written permission. We use team, league, player and brand names only to describe and identify, and that use implies no affiliation or endorsement.
hockeytape.ca is owned and operated by Scott Plumptree, an individual in Vancouver, British Columbia. This policy covers two things: how others may use our name and logo, and how we use other people’s names and brands.
1. Our Name and Logo
The hockeytape.ca name, its logo and the site’s other brand elements belong to Scott Plumptree. They identify this site and its free guides, tutorials and Tape Lab. All goodwill in them belongs to Scott Plumptree.
2. How We Use Other Brands’ Names
The site talks about real teams, leagues, players and equipment. Names such as NHL, Bauer, CCM and Warrior appear only to describe and identify: for example, to say which tape a player used or which product a tutorial shows.
- These names belong to their owners.
- Using them does not mean we are affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of them.
- We do not use other brands’ logos to suggest a relationship.
- Player stories are summarized and paraphrased from published sources, and we link those sources.
When a brand pays for a placement, such as an appearance in the 3D scene, a sponsored tutorial or a Tape Lab preset, that placement is clearly labelled as sponsored. See the Advertising and Sponsorship Disclosure.
If you own a mark and think we have used it in a way that suggests a connection, email us and we will review it.
3. Permitted Use of Our Name
You may refer to hockeytape.ca by name to accurately identify the site, for example in news, a review, a blog post or a link to a tutorial. The reference must be truthful, must not suggest affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement, must not use our logo, and must not be misleading.
4. Prohibited Uses
Without written permission, you may not:
- suggest a false affiliation with or endorsement by hockeytape.ca
- use our name, or a confusingly similar name, in a company name, domain name, social media handle, app name or product name
- alter our name or logo, combine it with other marks, or create a mark based on it
- use our logo
- use our name in a way that disparages or misleads
Domain names or search keywords that create confusion with hockeytape.ca are not allowed.
5. Logos and Assets
We do not offer our logo or brand assets for general download. If you need them, for example for press coverage or an approved partnership, ask by email. For our renders and images, see the Image and Media Licensing Policy.
6. Reporting Misuse or Asking Permission
To report suspected misuse of our name or logo, or to ask permission to use them, email scott@plumptree.com. We protect our name and reserve all rights.
