Advertising and Sponsorship Disclosure
Effective October 25, 2026. Last updated October 25, 2026.
In short
hockeytape.ca is free and may sell clearly labelled sponsored placements, such as a brand in the 3D scene, a sponsored tutorial or a Tape Lab preset. Sponsors never write our advice, sponsored content is always labelled, and we never accept payment for reviews or stories. Placements involve no tracking of visitors.
hockeytape.ca is owned and operated by Scott Plumptree, an individual in Vancouver, British Columbia. The site is a free guide with nothing to buy. This page explains how advertising works on it.
1. Sponsored Placements
We may sell sponsored placements to brands. These can include:
- a brand appearing in the 3D scene
- a sponsored tutorial
- a sponsored Tape Lab preset
Every sponsored placement is clearly labelled as sponsored where it appears, so you can tell it apart from our own content. Placements are part of the page itself. They involve no cookies, tracking pixels, third-party scripts or profiling of visitors.
Brands can ask about placements through the advertising enquiry form or by email.
2. Editorial Independence
Sponsors never write the site’s advice. Our tutorials, tape guides and recommendations are our own. A sponsor cannot pay to change what we say about tape, technique or any product, and cannot review or approve our content before it is published.
Mentioning a brand outside a labelled placement does not mean that brand paid us. See the Trademark and Brand Usage Policy for how we use brand names.
3. No Paid Reviews or Stories
We do not accept payment, free products or anything else in exchange for a review, a recommendation or a published player story. Stories sent by readers follow the Story Submission Policy.
4. United States: FTC Endorsement Guides
We follow the US Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 C.F.R. Part 255). Any material connection between us and a brand, such as a payment for a placement, is disclosed clearly and close to the content it relates to.
5. Canada: Competition Act
We follow the truth-in-advertising principles of Canada’s Competition Act. Sponsored content must not be presented in a way that gives a false or misleading impression, and we do not let advertising pass as independent content.
