Tape Lab: design your hockey tape job in 3D

Pick a stick, wrap it any way you like, or start from a real player's tape job. Then send it to a teammate.

About the Tape Lab.

What can I design in the Tape Lab?

A forward, defence, goalie or retro wooden stick, left or right shot, from youth to senior size, with a flat or curved blade. Wrap it in any colour or colour sequence, in stripes, sections, strips or a zebra pattern, choose the knob and handle, or start from a real player's documented tape job.

Can I pick my exact stick?

Yes. Choose from current Bauer, CCM, Warrior, True, Sherwood and TOVI sticks, goalie sticks, and classic sticks like the wooden Sher-Wood PMP 5030. Picking a model sets the stick type and its main colours. Models are shown without logos or graphics, and colours are close approximations, not exact matches.

What is the torched finish?

Some players wax their tape and then run a heat gun or a quick pass of a lighter over it, which melts the wax into the cloth and seals it against water. The Tape Lab shows a flame passing along the blade and leaves the tape glossy with light scorch marks. If you try it for real, keep the heat moving and work away from anything that can catch fire.

How do I make a tape ball?

Pick "Tape ball" as the stick type, choose how many rolls and which colours, and press "Wrap it again" to watch it wind up. The size estimate assumes 25 yard rolls wound tightly.

What is expert mode?

Expert mode gives exact control: the seam angle, tape thickness in layers, any width (including tape cut in half), any overlap, exactly where the tape starts and ends, knob size and length, puck marks, any colour, and your own uploaded tape design.

How does it estimate how much tape I need?

It counts the passes needed to cover the taped part of the blade at your width and overlap, sized for the stick you picked, and turns that into metres. Real tape jobs vary with how tight you pull and how much you trim, so treat it as a close estimate.

Can I share my design?

Yes. Your choices are saved in the page address as you change them, so copying the link shares your exact tape job. An uploaded design stays on your device and is not part of the link.

Why do I see a still image instead of a 3D stick?

The 3D view needs a browser with WebGPU. Without it you see a still render, and the tape estimate still works.
